Webinar

Please note this is a repeat of the webinar held on the 28th April

With the proportion of university students identifying themselves as members of the disability community predicted to reach 30% by 2030, the role of professionals in supporting their transition into work has never been more important.

Providing effective support means understanding the key decisions and challenges facing students with disabilities during the job search, while also helping them to recognise their unique strengths, build confidence, and reinforce the value they can bring to employers.

This interactive webinar is designed to help employability staff better understand these challenges and provide practical, informed guidance to the students they support.

During the session we will explore the current employment landscape for graduates with disabilites, examine the barriers they could encounter during recruitment, and focus on four key areas where students often need the most advice and reassurance:

  • Disclosing a disability during recruitment

  • Requesting adjustments and / or support

  • Explaining mitigating circumstances in applications

  • Communicating the strengths and skills gained through lived experience of disability

Alongside these themes, we will share practical tips and strategies that you can use in your day-to-day conversations with students. We will also be joined by early careers professionals from JPMorganChase, who will provide insight from an employer perspective and answer questions from delegates during the session.

This webinar is free to attend.

I found the webinar thoroughly interesting and informative, it being suitable for both new and experienced academics and careers staff. It was an opportunity to refresh and reflect upon existing knowledge and understanding of such an important subject matter.
