Recruitment processes are designed to be rigorous however, without the right support in place, they can quickly become inaccessible for students who are members of the disability community. Although requesting adjustments should be straightforward, many students find this step difficult, creating an additional barrier at a critical stage.

Uncertainty about what support is available, concerns about stigma, and a lack of clarity around what qualifies as a ‘reasonable adjustment’ can all contribute to students feeling unsure how to move forward.

This interactive session is designed to equip university staff with the knowledge and confidence to better support disabled students as they approach and progress through recruitment.

During this interactive workshop, we will explore how to:

  • Clarify the range of adjustments and support employers may offer

  • Support students to navigate the process of requesting adjustments with clarity and confidence

  • Provide practical, tailored guidance to strengthen applications and interview performance

  • Share experiences, challenges, and effective approaches in a collaborative environment

The session will be delivered by Helen Cooke CBE, CEO and Founder of MyPlus, and will include opportunities for discussion and questions. Alongside practical insights to support your day-to-day work with students, Helen will be joined by representatives from JPMorganChase, who will share their approach to supporting applicants and participate in the Q&A.
