MyPlus sponsor 2Stroke Atlantic Challenge

Windsor, UK - 9th April 2024

MyPlus are delighted to be sponsoring 2-person rowing team ‘2Stroke’ who will be rowing the Atlantic as part of the Atlantic Challenge race in December 2024 to raise awareness and money for Dementia UK and Prostate Cancer UK.

2 Stroke’s aim is to raise £200,000 for the charities, with Karl Austen and Ed Shaw rowing approximately 3000 miles unassisted in a Ranock R25 rowing vessel across the Atlantic Ocean from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua. Karl and Ed will take turns on the oars, 2 hours on and 2 hours off, carrying everything they need for up to 2 months at sea in what will be the ultimate test of physical and mental endurance.

Organised by Atlantic Campaigns the Atlantic race is known as ‘The World’s Toughest Row’ and sees teams of 1 to 5 members from across the globe enter to test themselves against mother nature and compete to row the 3000 miles. View the Atlantic Campaigns video.

The 2 charities, Dementia UK and Prostate Cancer UK that 2Stroke are supporting have been chosen because of family members suffering from these conditions. Every 3 minutes a person is diagnosed with Dementia and Prostate Cancer is the 2nd most common cause of cancer death in males in the UK.

Helen Cooke CEO & Founder of MyPlus said “I am delighted for MyPlus to be sponsoring 2Stroke. Not only is the race very personal to us with Karl being the husband of one of our employees, Lise Austen, there is also a lot of synergy in what they are doing with MyPlus. The race requires determination, mental strength and self belief and one of the reasons Karl and Ed are doing it is to show their respective children that you can do anything you put your mind to, much like how we help build the confidence and raise the career aspirations of disabled people.”
