MyPlus Story

MyPlus is one of the UK's leading authorities in disability recruitment and development

Established in 2006 we have worked with and continue to work with a variety of organisations including Barclays, BP, EY, Hogan Lovells, J.P. Morgan, Enterprise Holdings and the Civil Service. With a unique specialisation in graduate recruitment our MyPlus Recruiters' Club, launched in 2009, is a membership forum aimed at building disability confidence in graduate recruitment. Our MyPlus Students' Club launched in 2013, is a website which brings together students, universities and businesses and provides graduate employers with a platform to market themselves as employers of choice for disabled students. In 2019 MyPlus introduced for university staff expert resources to support their students with disabilities as they transition from education into employment.

I don’t believe I am any more special than anyone else. But I do believe my disability has given me something extra.
— Helen Cooke, MyPlus CEO and Founder

MyPlus was founded, and is directed, by Helen Cooke - an HR professional, disability consultant, trainer and speaker

Recognised nationally as a leading expert in disability and graduate recruitment, Helen is supported by an experienced group of associate consultants and trainers; all of whom have a background in the commercial world as well as expertise in disability.

Helen's unique approach stems largely from her wide-ranging experience, drawing on her commercial background, her HR expertise, as well as first-hand experience of disability. Helen uses a wheelchair as a result of a childhood spinal injury and she uses her personal experiences to bring the subject alive and to help people to really understand the key issues.

MyPlus is...

  • my determination to overcome the barriers in front of me.

  • my capacity to prove myself to everyone I work with.

  • my desire today to help individuals and organisations realise new possibilities.

  • what makes me who I am.

  • why all employers should open up to people with a disability.

I’m delighted to see that MyPlus continues to grow from strength to strength. I’ve known Helen and her work for many years now and she is one of a small number of professionals in this space that really do know their topic and is an excellent convenor both for disabled candidates and for enlightened employers looking to broaden their talent pool. Her work is innovative and often leading edge.
