Be disability confident in graduate recruitment
Our calendar of events is an integral part of how we support MyPlus Recruiters' Club members to achieve real progress around attracting, recruiting and developing disabled talent. We provide a program of informative and interactive Disability Cafes, Breakfast Seminars and Workshops which provide members with the opportunity to learn about key issues, share best practice and network with others facing similar challenges. Some of our events are available to non-members.
Disability Cafés are at the heart of the MyPlus Recruiters’ Club Events’ Calendar and are designed to encourage the discussion of a disability related subject in more depth. Bringing together a broad group of individuals, the Cafés provide an opportunity to hear different views from experts, learn what other people are doing and share best practices. The unique style of the Disability Cafés enables groups to participate in evolving rounds of dialogue with people moving between tables, sharing knowledge and exploring the key issues concerning the disability subject. The diversity of attendees brings real richness to the discussions that take place. This event is suitable for anyone who would like to understand more about the topic of disability, whether you are a recruiter, manager or sponsor.
Breakfast Seminars are incredibly popular, providing an opportunity to meet individuals who are dealing with a disability on a daily basis. We take a deep dive on a topic involving students, recent graduates and/or those further on in their career, who have a disability, and who tell us about their real-life experiences with the aim of bringing the subject to life. This event is suitable for anyone passionate about the subject and who is keen to build their knowledge of disability and their understanding of different types of disabilities and the impact it can have on the workplace.
Workshops are a practical training session designed to upskill individuals working in this space. Run by Helen Cooke, Director of MyPlus and expert in disability recruitment, these are 2 or 3 hour sessions focusing on different aspects of graduate recruitment and disabilities. Suitable as an introduction or refresher, these are appropriate for those involved in the recruitment process.
Recruiters' Club Annual Networking Reception
In May 2017 we launched our first Recruiters' Club Annual Reception. This annual event provides an opportunity for our members, sponsors and network of businesses and individuals associated with disability to come together for an evening of drinks, canapés and discussions. Attendees hear all the latest developments from MyPlus and have the chance to have conversations around disability and it's growing importance in the student recruitment space with other businesses and students with disabilities. Entertainment is provided and the event is by invitation only.
